Young Goodman, one of San Diego’s newest emerging four-piece alternative rock bands, is blowing out the club scene with its heavy riffs, driving beats, and lyrics that linger with you beyond their shows. Over the past three years, YG’s Midwestern roots have been firmly transplanted into the SoCal sound scene and now their labor is starting to bear fruit. With high-energy shows and passionate fans they are a new buzz representing the 619 area code. Young Goodman is comprised of C.J. Ackerman at lead vocals and guitar, Freddy Ackerman on drums, Adam Minjares on rhythm guitar, and Kyle Botsch laying down the bass.

1. Risen Magazine: Young Goodmen’s album released on April 24. What can your fans expect?
Young Goodman: Well for all those that had the first Young Goodman album, this one is going to be a lot heavier. We think our music has matured quite a bit. Lyrically, we try to write about daily life, the struggles it gives us, and how to face those struggles. We are not singing about how we’re little kids or singing about girls—it’s real life we’re talking about. Each song sounds different than the previous and each can stand on its own musically. We’re really excited about the release. It’s going to be nothing but good music.
