God’s Good News by Billy Graham
Billy Graham has preached the good news of God’s love to nearly 215 million people in more than 185 countries and territories—through various meetings, including Mission World and Global Mission. Hundreds of millions more have been reached through television, video, film, and webcasts.
In addition to speaking at crusades, Graham also wrote 33 books, many which became top sellers. His autobiography “Just As I Am,” published in 1997, achieved a “triple crown,” appearing simultaneously on the three top best-seller lists in one week. Even though he passed away in February of 2018, his legacy continues with the recent release of the storybook for children, God’s Good News.
Graham remains one of the foremost pastors in America’s history. God’s Good Newsis a great resource for parents, grandparents, teachers and pastors to show children the way to the cross and to help them begin a lifetime of following Christ.
God’s Good Newsis a collection of more than 60 favorite Bible stories told in actual Bible text from the New King James Version, including Noah, Joseph, Moses, David, Jesus, and the disciples, and each story is equipped with a takeaway devotion from Rev. Graham. The takeaways will help children focus on God’s Word, apply it to their lives, and begin walking with God and sharing the good news from an early age. The artwork from Scott Wakefield will help children connect with the timeless Bible stories and messages from Rev. Graham.
Rev. Graham reflects on what the good news is all about.
“Christianity is good news. . . . When we open up the Bible, it is good news from cover to cover. It’s the good news that God loves us.”
“Therefore, since the promise of entering his rest still stands, let us be careful that none of you be found to have fallen short of it. For we also have had the good news proclaimed to us, just as they did; but the message they heard was of no value to them, because they did not share the faith of those who obeyed. Now we who have believed enter that rest, just as God has said,
“So I declared on oath in my anger,
‘They shall never enter my rest.’”[
And yet his works have been finished since the creation of the world.Hebrews 4:1-3

Share the Good News. God has entrusted each of us with the responsibility to share the Good News with those around us. It could be your neighbor, classmate, friend, family member or co-worker. Take time this week to pray and ask God who He wants you to share the Gospel with. Ask Him to give you the words to share and give you boldness. Don’t feel discouraged if you don’t feel like you are an evangelist like Billy Graham. Each of us has a unique set of gifts and talents. It is important to not compare yourself to another person. Instead, use the gifts and talents entrusted to you. Many churches and ministries offer workshops on how you can share your faith. These are great resources and can be good to go to with a group of friends or your small group.
Equip a young person. Billy Graham would often talk about how important it was to reach a young person with the Gospel by the time they were 18. The thought behind it was that by that time they had established their belief system. That’s not to say that people won’t come to Christ after 18, but there are often barriers and walls that they have put up that make sharing the Gospel with them more challenging. Ask God to show you a young person in your life. It could be your child, your child’s friend, neighbor, niece, nephew or grandchild. Ask the Holy Spirit to show you a way that you can bless them. It might be getting them a copy of God’s Good News and reading it with them or another devotional that will help them in their faith. It could be going to a faith-based film and having ice cream afterwards to talk about what they took away from it. Think about the people that helped mentor you in your faith and the potential you have to help someone in theirs.
Be the Mordecai Ham. Ham is the evangelist that spoke at a revival, where Graham made a personal commitment to Christ. Ham was being a faithful servant of God when he shared the Gospel that day. He would have no idea that one of the people that would accept Christ from his message would go on to have a ministry that would impact millions around the world including many US Presidents. God has placed you in your specific job, school, neighborhood for a reason. He wants you to be faithful in what you do and reaching others with His life-changing Gospel.
