Joel Smallbone & David Koechner in “Priceless”
Joel & Luke Smallbone are the brothers that make up the Grammy-winning Christian-crossover duo for KING & COUNTRY. Not only did they co-host the DOVE Awards on Tuesday night with gospel star Tye Tribbett, but for KING & COUNTRY won Contemporary Christian Artist of the Year too. But music isn’t the only thing the Smallbones are focusing on… they have a new movie out that their other brother Ben directed called Priceless.
Inspired by true events, Priceless is the powerful drama/thriller about James Stevens who at one time was a good man with a great life — but this has drastically changed. After the tragic death of his wife and losing custody of his little girl, James now finds himself at the darkest crossroad of his life. Angry, desperate, and unable to hold down a steady job, he agrees to drive a box truck on a one-time trip cross country for cash — no questions asked. But when he discovers what he is delivering, he is faced with a life-changing choice. Can love, strength, and faith redefine his past and change the course of his future? This unlikely hero must risk it all, confront the forces that oppose him, and ultimately discover the life he was meant to live.
This is Joel’s second movie after making his feature-film debut in Like A Country Song alongside Billy Ray Cyrus which was produced by Risen. Also starring in Priceless is comedian and actor David Koechner. You’ll recognize him from blockbusters like Anchorman, Talladega Nights, Get Smart, The Office and he is currently on The Goldbergs. Risen sat down with Joel and David to learn more about the passion behind the project, family and the movement to help save girls sold into slavery right here in the United States.
Priceless is being distributed by Roadside Attractions and opens in theatres nationwide on October 14th. Check out: pricelessthemovie.com
