Like A Country Song Movie Premiere
Like A Country Song – From the Red Carpet Premiere to CMA Music Festival to the Grand Ole Opry: Billy Ray Cyrus, Cast and Filmmakers Invade Nashville
Country music superstar Billy Ray Cyrus, for KING & COUNTRY’s Joel Smallbone, Two and a Half Men’s Jennifer Taylor, The Twilight Saga’s Booboo Stewart, and actress Kerry Knuppe make up the ensemble cast of the faith film, Like A Country Song. And country fans will be excited to see legend Larry Gatlin grace the screen as well.
The cast shared their feelings about the script, making the movie and the impact they are hoping to leave with fans through this story about humility, forgiveness, and redemption.
“If I had to title myself anything, I would title myself as an artist; and art can be a thousand different things. Even as I boy I would sing with my sister that traveled, but just as quickly I would run out on my parents farm with my brother and our Super 8 camera and do little short films. Film and music were always both loves and passions. In fact, if I was going to be honest, film probably came before music. But more recently, with for KING & COUNTRY and the way my life has kind of been geared, music has absolutely taken the forefront and it’s been a beautiful thing. But through music, specifically with Like A Country Song, there have been doors opened into film.”
– JOEL SMALLBONE
“I read the script, Like a Country Song, and it was just in my heart and mind that this was something that could be part of my purpose, the story of redemption and someone rising above adversity. In life we’re all dealt a certain hand to play, and sometimes you get dealt some bad cards and sometimes you might make a bad move, but life is a series of adjustments and in this story Bo, the character I play, had gone through some hard times and maybe made some bad decisions, but he didn’t give up believing. As a matter of fact, when the chips were down he said, ‘I’m going to give it to God.’ That’s what I loved about this script. From the first time I read it there was never a doubt that I’m supposed to do this movie.”
– BILLY RAY CYRUS
“This is a really moving piece of film…it is gonna change some lives for the better…it changed mine.”
– LARRY GATLIN
“Every project has to go through the filter of how this will affect my family. I’m drawn to broken characters struggling to make the right choices. They’re infinitely more interesting than people pretending to be perfect. We are all flawed. There’s beauty in that brokenness.”
– JENNIFER TAYLOR
