Matt Damon: Decisions, Chance Encounters and “Stillwater”
It’s a dramatic thriller that has all the feels of the real life Amanda Knox case, the American college student who was accused of and cleared in the murder of a roommate in Italy. But Stillwater, has its own unique twists and turns. It’s directed by Academy Award® winner Tom McCarthy and stars Matt Damon. It follows an American oil-rig roughneck from Oklahoma who travels to Marseille to visit his estranged daughter, in prison for a murder she claims she did not commit. His daughter, played by Abigail Breslin, was in a relationship with a girl at the time of her death.
The movie received a 5-minute standing ovation at the Cannes Film Festival and we talked with Matt Damon about decision-making, encounters with strangers, and his trip in the midwest.

Stillwater hits theatres July 30
