New Movie About Mercy Me’s Lead Singer: “I Can Only Imagine”

Meet Co-Directors, The Erwin Brothers

These Christian filmmakers are best known for films like Woodlawn, October Baby and Mom’s Night Out. Well now they got the unique opportunity to tell the true story of the lead singer from the band Mercy Me, Bart Millard, and the story behind his hit song “I Can Only Imagine.” It was written about his father and the new movie that opens Friday, has the same title.

It’s stars Dennis Quaid as Bart’s dad and broadway star J. Michael Finley as Bart. We sat down with Andrew and Jon Erwin to learn more about how this story was brought to film, the importance of a father-son relationship and telling an authentic story.

I Can Only Imagine opens Friday, March 16.
