The Prayer Bible for Children
Whether you are five or thirty-five years old, praying can be an intimidating aspect of the faith. We might not feel like we are saying the “right” words. Sometimes it feels like God doesn’t hear us or isn’t answering our prayers, so we just stop praying. It might even be that we don’t know how to pray so we just avoid it altogether. God has placed children in our lives in one way or another. For some it is as parents, for others it is as a grandparent, aunt, uncle, coach, teacher or mentor. The children in our lives are a great opportunity to refresh our faith as we teach them. The Prayer Bible for Children is just one great resource available to encourage children in their faith.
The Prayer Bible for Children helps children develop a heart for prayer and learn the Bible through the popular ICB translation. This is a simple translation children can read and understand. Special pages throughout the text highlight the most famous and beloved prayers featured in the Bible. From Abraham’s prayers to the Lord, to Jesus praying before his crucifixion, to the way Paul prayed for the churches he planted, this Bible will teach young readers about a God who loves to hear from His children and loves answering prayers. This Bible includes a pocket with a prayer journal for children to record their own prayers.

Risen Reflections
Pray with a child. Whether you are a parent, grandparent, aunt, uncle, mentor or coach, chances are you have a child in your life. You might even be the only person in their life that has a relationship with Christ. God wants to use you to help others grown in their faith. Often as we help others, we learn ourselves. Take time this week and pray with a child. Listen to their words and the simplicity of their requests. It can be a good reminder for us. For some, they will want to learn how to pray. Be willing to take time and teach them how to pray. Explain to them that God is not a vending machine that gives us everything we ask for. It can be helpful to use resources like The Prayer Bible for Children to help you teach them.
Write down your prayers. Take time this week to write down your pray requests. It can be with a friend, small group or your family. Commit to praying for the list each week if not more. Then record praises and how you see God answer each of the requests. Remember God might not answer it immediately or the way you thought He would. That’s okay! Keep praying and ask Him to help you to understand how He is working and answering the prayer.
Reflect on the prayers of others. The Bible is filled with examples of people that prayed. From David to Paul, we can see what their prayers were like when they were persecuted, when they had to walk in faith, and when they were frustrated. If you are going through a situation or difficult time, try to find a character in the Bible that is going through something similar and see what their prayers looked like and how God answered them. Reach out to a friend, small group leader or pastor and ask them to pray with you and for you.
