Shine for Christ

Being a witness for Christ can be challenging. From challenging questions to questioning one’s faith, it can be difficult at every stage of life. When someone makes a decision to follow Christ it is important to support and encourage them. One way to do that is by helping them pick out a Bible. The Sequin Sparkle and Change Bible is a great option for kids as they grow in their relationship with Christ.

It features a cover with pink sequins that change color depending on which way your child swipes. It’s perfect for kids ages 6 to 10 to take to Sunday school, read with the family, or study on their own. The ICB, the first Bible translation created specifically for children, is easy for children to read and understand with a third-grade reading level and is typeset in a large, readable font.  A great new feature in this updated setting is more than 300 key verses that are highlighted throughout the Bible for kids to read and learn. The illustrated insert pages are in a style that children love and will delight their imaginations, including topics such as such as how Jesus loves them, knowing Jesus better, and how to pray.

“Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord rises upon you. See, darkness covers the earthand thick darkness is over the peoples, but the Lord rises upon youand his glory appears over you.Nations will come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your dawn.Isaiah 60:1-3

Risen Reflections

Shine. God wants each of us to be a light for him wherever we are at. Pray and ask God to show Him where He wants to use you. It could be with your co-workers, classmates, teammates or neighbors. Reflect on things that might be holding you back from reflecting God’s love towards others. It could be an attitude, action or addiction that you are holding on to. Ask the Holy Spirit to help you break free from that and to use your story to help others. Check to see if your church has a class to help you share your faith. It can be helpful to go with a friend or someone in your small group.

Help someone else shine. Think back through the people in your life that helped you in your walk with God. It could be someone that shared Christ with you, someone that gave you a Bible or an inspirational book, or someone that mentored you through a challenging period in your life. God wants you to do the same for someone else! Pray and ask Him to show you someone in your life that you can encourage in their walk with Christ. It could be helping someone pick out their first Bible or finding a devotional to help them grow in their faith. It might even be meeting with them regularly to help them answer questions they have about their faith.

Change. God doesn’t want us to stay where we are at. He wants us to change and become more like His son. We can’t do this on our own. He has given us the Holy Spirit and fellowship with other believers in order to do this. Ask a close friend or small group member to grab coffee or go for a walk this week. Ask them to share with you ways that they see that might be holding you back from growing in your relationship with God. You might even be able to identify them yourself but just need someone to challenge you and hold you accountable. Meet regularly to pray and ask each other questions to hold each other accountable to changing and becoming more like Christ.
