Twin Sister Adventurers: Tashi & Nungshi Malik

Twin sisters Tashi & Nungshi Malik from Dehradun make up 2 of the 5 member on Team Khukuri Warriors, the first team from India to join Eco-Challenge. By 23 years of age they had defied gender stereotypes reaching the world’s highest and farthest points – Mt Everest, the North Pole and the South Pole – becoming the first twins to climb Everest, as well as the Seven Summits.

In World’s Toughest Race: Eco-Challenge Fiji, the sisters race alongside their father, who was a former Colonel in the Indian Army, in this non-stop, 11 day competition across hundreds of miles of rugged Fijian terrain complete with mountains, jungles and oceans.

Risen talked with the Malik twins about this race, and the inspiration they are to young women everywhere.
